Base Basket Buffet incorporates all of what is good in the Progressive
scene today. Grooving rhythms accompanying melodic stabs, psychedelic
murmurs followed by howling space effects, building, building and
progressing through atmospheres of aural pleasure. Human Blue is
Transient biggest selling artist and this new edition cements his
hold on this title with an iron grip. Tracks from this album have
been licensed to the next Ministry of Sound compilation; the world
is now waking up to the sound we have known for years is ‘world
class’.
A new progressive sub label is being created as well by Transients
Greg Coyle called Radio with Pictures. Here you can expect an eclectic
mix of music with upcoming releases from known artists such as Kruger
and Coyle, Synchros new side project Stikka, and an album from Chris
Cargo. Check out more at www.myspace.com/radiowithpics
or at Beatport, Itunes, & Trackitdown. Keep your ears peeled
for this.
Track
Descriptions:
Lone
Ranger
This ten minute journey through superlative
psychedelic trance meanders and builds deliberately, each measure
adding subtly heartfelt changes in sound. Catchy bass drums and
delicate melodies add to the tune, each repetition blossoming
wider and thicker. Tinklings and choir make up a killer breather
of a breakdown, refreshing your dance energy.
Imperial Mind
"Mind" winds its way into your
eardrums at a faster pace, with a pulsating bass that thumps along
to sweet sixteenth note riffs and arpeggios that rise in intonation
and elevation. This track is superb for building up those opening
vibes or instilling second winds into dance-weary enthusiasts.
This is positive, uplifting music for the forward-thinking soul.
Dessert Desert
Human Blue picks up the pace even further
with a haunting piece rife with noises of digital insects and
lilting vox pads floating on an undercurrent of solid multi-layered
bass. Spacious and atmospheric with a hint of full-on, "Desert"
is the vehicle you need to transport your mind into the twilight
with the innocent, giddy enthusiasm of a musical zealot.
Dragonflingz
This stunner of a piece takes some great
melodies and turns them on their heads. Bouncy leads and squirty
synths squelch out of their seeds and spiral every which way through
this soundscape. Building in momentum, no two iterations seem
the same, and before it's half over, you're floating in a blissful,
emotive array of psychedelic sonic delight.
Hide and Seek
The beginning of this album's second half
takes a turn down a darker road less travelled. Minor keys and
spidery aural arrangements get you into a bounce-worthy state,
while acid-etched robotic whirrs turn the tide of the sound into
a groovy loop rich with funky bass and sharp-toothed waves guaranteed
to tittilate, making this one a must-listen.
Party Deluxe
This Scandinavian trance master isn't done
showing off his diversity yet. "Party" is a track destined
to be broadcast outdoors, from the fast and chunky bassbeat to
the filter-driven synth chatter that plucks at your endorphin
sacks like a rubber band maestro. The slippery melodies are yet
more sweet icing on this delicious trance summer sundae.
Pacific Run
Like a fiery sundown into a shadowy twilight,
Human Blue ensures that his album as a whole progresses as his
tracks do, albeit on a larger temporal scale. "Run"
is just that, a peak-hour nighttime energy builder that keeps
your feet thumping and your ego throbbing. Superb driving music
for those scenic voyages around the Crab Nebula!
Gravity Affair
This final track possesses a sound all its
own, featuring click, chirpy delayed arpeggios atop a writhing
bassline that refuses to repeat itself twice. Crystalline pads
hallmark an entryway into an alien audio environment, dipping
into sublime breakdown with the grace of liquid metal. This mercurial
track testifies strongly to Human Blue's mutably creative musical
virtuosity.
