‘Goa times- Now and Then’ is a compilation
which illustrates the old supernal melodies and sounds, which were
spiritual, psychedelic and mystical. It revives those accords, which
are no longer prevalent in the energy released by psychedelic aspect
of trance today. Although the conception remains the same, the sonic
waves that unite the body and soul today are popularly termed 'New
age'. It's quite clear today that the trip still has the same destination,
but the traveler has evolved in terms of space and time. Goa Times
features tracks from both ends of the spectrum - Modern day epics
as well as parables of the late 90's.
They say, “If old was so gold - the sound of Goa wouldn’t
be a personal distinction.” We say “Goa will always
remain gilded”. Goa Times - Now And Then – it’s
your decision.
Track by Track
Afgin - Amanita
Afgin's track "Amanita" is a timeless Goa classic, an
encapsulation of sweaty Indian beaches and mystic, hedonistic
spiritualism underlying intense Eastern melodies. Thickly pitched
drum beats coordinate cascading riffs consisting of screeching
saw waves sure to bring back flashbacks of wondrous memories of
Goa Trance's golden days.
Etnica - Vimana
The original title track of Etnica's "Plastic" album
of 1997 is a deafening dose of audio energy. Considered a track
that came to define a musical career that shaped a genre; "Vimana"
delivers the goods as well today as eleven years ago. Vimana is
an old school classic that newer hits have been compared against,
in a day when Etnica's sound succeeded them all.
Astralancer - Namaskara Mudra
A hauntingly high tempo Goa beat supports groovy layers of low-frequency
waves as mountainous melodic waves pierce the sound spheres above.
Intensely psychedelic and musical, this genre-shaper of a track
was an accurate forbearer of styles to come. Astralancer blurs
the lines between dissonance and harmony in this energy-twisting
trance track.
Cosmosis - Gift of the Godz
An artist as infamous as this should need no introduction. This
sci-fi soundtrack of ethereal alien visitations and nocturnal
blending of sound waves close to the Arctic Circle represents
a definite cross-section of the mind which came to shape the face
of European psy-trance. Millions have appreciated these sounds
as you will surely do, too.
Goasia - Paranormal Experience
This masterfully modernized hybridization of new and old sounds
brings about peak-hour Goa melodies along with thickly layered
21'st century bass and contorted sound effects. Bouncy, groovy,
and chock full of pairs of waving arms, this multi-appendaged
track is chock full of unexpected surprises and tension-and-release
buildup segments.
Chakra & Edi Mis - Final Miss
A hallmark must-listen of Israeli trance artists, Chakra and Edi
Mis have made a huge footprint in the Middle East and outward,
their album "The Promised Land" considers as one of
the best ever made. "Final Miss" is a stark testament
to their legacy, offering up a fifteen minute odyssey of trance
sounds way beyond their time and still as enjoyable today.
Liquid Flow - Moderate Stimulation
As active today as his early projects amid the turn of the century,
Liquid Flow's musical talent stretches from his childhood. As
"Moderate" illustrates, his sound incorporates that
same fiery essence of high-amplitude full-on energy that influenced
his passion since the beginning days. Writhing melodies ride a
sonic roller-coaster through eras of sounds capes.
Manmademan - Athalon
The first minutes of this full-on thumper are a gnarly ride of
rocky kicks and bass, accompanied by dissasociated palpable layers
and effects. Screeching acid synths etch out corrosively groovy
leads beneath rolling strata of spiralling melodies. Chugging
bass keeps the tension pulsing from moment to moment and bar to
bar.
Holymen - The Last Universe
An Israeli veteran and legend, Holymen have been molding a budding
trance scene in Israel since the late '90s, sharing label and
lineup spots with other greats such as Infected Mushroom, "The
Last Universe" is arguably this act's greatest and most widely
acclaimed achievement, a sound as on its own level then as it
is now, still untouched.
